2023 Winter Skeet League Shooters:
We are excited to open Northbrook Sports Club’s 2023 Winter Skeet League. While the 2022 Winter Skeet League was a huge success, we’re looking forward to an even more exciting 2023 League.
As usual, the first day of league competition will be New Year’s Day, Sunday, January 1, 2023. We're hopeful that many if not all teams that competed in 2022 will return in 2023. If you competed in 2022, and we have your squad information, we will email you in the next few weeks regarding registration of your 2023 squad so start contacting your 2022 squad mates in preparation for 2023.
To refresh your memory, the following is a summary of the 2023 league:
-
Squads will pull and score their own rounds and then post their round scorecards to the scoreboard as in prior years.
-
There will be both a five-shooter competition and two-shooter competition. 2023 fees will be approximately the same as last year: $40/shooter for five-shooter squads, and $10/shooter for two-shooter squads.
-
The league begins on Sunday, January 1, 2023 and will end on Saturday, April 8, 2023 followed by the Winter Skeet banquet that evening.
-
Please note this email is from our Winter Skeet email address. We will communicate with shooters through this address, so it’s imperative that we have at least two email addresses from each squad. You can register your squad through this email and will therefore receive weekly score updates as well as other league information throughout the season.
-
The complete rules for Winter Skeet are posted on the club's Web site. Please either email or see Nate Lubbers if you have questions regarding rules and competition.
-
New rule: Many of you know that guns are not permitted anywhere inside the club (except the gun cleaning room), which includes our Winter Skeet hangout, the annex. Gun are racked outside in the pavilion and may only be assembled/broken down outside or at your car—or brought cased to the gun cleaning room. Cased guns are permitted in the annex but again, have to brought outside to be assembled, etc.
We will again:
-
Host a New-Winter-Skeet-shooter orientation breakfast at the club on Sunday, November 13th at 9:30a. We’ll explain the Winter Skeet league and then organize squads to shoot a round of Winter Skeet with the new participants. We’ll provide more information on the breakfast in the coming weeks.
-
We again are researching new branded Winter Skeet League apparel or an accessory for all 2023 league participants…stay tuned for that!
We're looking forward to another robust competition. Stay safe, and we look forward to seeing you at Northbrook!

Winter Skeet League
The winter skeet league is a five-man team event that begins every year on January 1 and ends in early April. During the winter skeet league, the league also runs a two-man, single-elimination skeet tournament.
The league shoots 25 regular targets and 25 doubles targets for a 50 target score which is then handicapped accordingly. Shooters must complete 250 targets (five rounds) to be eligible for awards that are given out at the Winter Skeet League Banquet in early April. The rules, scoring and an overview are available below.
Henry Schwenk, Nate Lubbers and Budd Eichner are the Winter Skeet League Co-Chairmen. You can sign up at the club house a month or two before the league season starts or you can contact Budd Eichner by email or phone at 312-980-2906.
